Betti in good old Germany

OK... so many important events worth sharing with you... I'm not even able to keep this blog up to date. So here are some impressions of Betti's visit. She came back from Texas for a couple of weeks and I had the pleasure to welcome her here in Freiburg.

Oberlindenhock (last weekend of June)

Delicious German food.... Currywurst

We went to Oberlindenhock to see our dear friend Kim Carson from Louisiana. She is a great country singer and it's exactly been 4 years since me first met at exactly the same spot. Dont fear the Twang! She came with a great band this year and we sang and danced the whole night.

Tuesday: discovering some nice places in the Black Forest

The "Baumliege" near Todtnauberg. We were enjoying the magnifiscent view over the Black Forest and had a yummy picknick. *thank you Tupperware*

Betti on the Baum

On our way back, we stopped at a typical restaurant and had 'Kaffee und Kuchen'. We ordered a Schwarzwälder Kirschtorte of course which actually was more Kirschwasser with a bit of Torte...

'High-King'.... euh... hiking!

Wednesday: visting Colmar
This is the house where Frédéric-Auguste Bartholdi was born. He was the sculptor of Miss Liberty which - as we all know - was a present from the people of France for the USA to celebrate 100 years of independence.

The market hall Colmar.

In La Petite Venise (Littele Venice / Klein-Venedig)... a beautiful part of Colmar.

Selfie-alarm!

This was actually before we met in Freiburg: I went to Betti's hometown to celebrate her birthday with family and friends. We watched the match Germany - Ghana afterwards.

Guitchime the Bratmaxe
World Cup crazyness everywhere...

Sunday: Walked up to the famous Schloss Lichtenstein with Betti and her lovely mother...

Romantic architecture... looks like Middle Ages, but was actually build during the 19th century.

One week in France

In Beauvais: Momente purer Freude mit meinen franko-kolumbianischen Freunden, Kinderbücher vorlesen, Hecke verschneiden, DVD gucken, gute Unterhaltungen, ausschlafen...

I went to Paris by bus in May to see Juliette Gréco at the Olympia. At the same time, this was a great possibilty to meet up with some friends in the capital.

Saturday: Promenade à Belleville. This is the house where Édith Piaf was born.

'One has to beware of words.' (Ben)

'Et l'odeur du métro me revient aussitôt.' ( Mouloudji)

One of the countless selfies of this weekend.

We had lunch with lovely Madeleine, met with my collegue and Kinga...

Then we walked around a little bit and discovered all the statues in the Tuileries.

This is art! =)

Iwona, Franzi, Guitchime, Kinga, Madeleine

Groupie Guitchime in front of his icon...

Legends everywhere in Paris... It's true, I neglected Piaf a little bit these last years. ;-)

We changed and got ready for the one and only Juliette...
ready to go to the Olympia

an iconic place for a true icon

After the concert, we tried to see as much as possible from La nuit des musées - all of the great museum in Paris were open. Unfortunately, they most of theme closeed round midnight... so it was more like Le soir des musées.

La nuit des musées: At the Grand Palais, there was a futuristic exposition: MONUMENTA 2014. Ilya and Emilia Kabakov - Une ville utopique.
Monumenta 2014 : Ilya et Emilia Kabakov

A little midnight snack at Belleville with Ien-Tchov. We didn't find a better place to eat.

Sunday: Barbecue in the garden of Agnese and Francois:

It's a men's world!!! *PROST* I like the look of little Louis...

Girls, girls, girls!!!

A delicious pre-birthday cake made by Inese. Paldies!

Men at work! ;-)
