What the heck?

OSAMA BIN LADEN HAS BEEN KILLED.

In New York people are spontaneously celebrating on the streets. Even Angela Merkel said that she's happy that Bin Laden has been killed. ("Ich freue mich, dass es gelungen ist, Bin Laden zu töten.")

How can one be happy about someone's death?
Who are we to decide over life and death?
Does Bin Laden's death change anything?
Is killing Bin Landen not a simple act of revanche and repayment which will cause other acts of revanche and repayment?
Don't we just step into a vicious circle?

And what about "You shall not murder."?

I don't want to be misunderstood: Osama Bin Laden did commit and plan horrible crimes. But is revanche and killing him the right answer and does that solve any problem? Was shooting him the only solution? Does that give us the ultimate satisfaction?

"I mourn the loss of thousands of precious lives, but I will not rejoice in the death of one, not even an enemy. Returning hate for hate multiplies hate, adding deeper darkness to a night already devoid of stars. Darkness cannot drive out darkness: only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate: only love can do that." – Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
